MWNote is a fast, minimalist Windows app that organizes your notes automatically.

The Problem​

Most note-taking tools suffer from the same set of issues:

  • Complex setup – syncing models, sign-ins, and configuration panels before you can start writing.
  • Slow, heavy apps – hundreds of MB in size, installers, multi-second startup times.
  • Feature bloat – formatting, media attachments, nested folder, integrations, and plugins most users never need.
  • Note clutter – old meeting notes, abandoned ideas, and temporary scraps mixed with current work.
  • Manual cleanup overhead – deleting or archiving by hand is tedious.
  • Organizational friction – folder structures and tagging schemes become extra work.
  • Loss of focus – too many features encourage tinkering instead of thinking.

These create cognitive load — extra mental effort that gets in the way of writing.

MWNote takes the opposite approach: it removes anything that slows you down or adds complexity, focusing only on features that make note-taking faster and simpler.

Periscope​

Search and open notes instantly with CTRL+E. Finds text in both titles and content so you never browse folders.

Cleaner​

Automatically moves old notes from Active to Inactive based on modification time, then deletes notes left unused. Keeps your workspace clear without manual effort.

Organizer​

View all notes across Active, Inactive, and Archive. Move, archive, or delete manually when you want full control.

How It Works: The Three-Stage Storage System​

MWNote organizes notes into three stages based on their activity:

  • Active — Your current workspace, containing recently created or updated notes.
  • Inactive — Older notes automatically moved out of view. These can be automatically deleted after a set period.
  • Archive — Permanent storage managed manually. Notes in this stage are never deleted.

Cleaner automatically moves notes between stages, while Organizer allows you to override this behavior at any time.
